She is known for her positive energy, knowledge, enthusiasm, passion and the teaching method that she uses to transmit the cultural richness of these dances

Genesis

Lundi -as we always hear- that's what her father calls her, she was born in 1976 in Havana, Cuba. Her family was full of performers and artists.

She is the daughter of Rosa Baquero, artistic director and choreographer of the Cabaret "Parisien & Tropicana de Cuba" and of the legendary Afro-Cuban dance Master Domingo Pau.

Before starting her dance career, Luanda was in athletics. In 1991 she began her studies at the National School of Arts, where she remained until 1994. Later she entered the renowned National Folkloric Ballet of Cuba (NFBC), where she danced as a soloist and principal dancer.

In NFBC she knows very well the role of her dancer Oya and Yemayá.

Growth

In 2001, she was a solo dancer in the cabaret show at the Casino de Montecarlo, in Monaco. Luanda has lived in Europe for 20 years.

To broaden her knowledge, she decided to study Popular Education, where she graduated as Director of Cultural Activities and Sports Education and, from that moment, she worked extensively with children and adults as an independent dance teacher.

Present

She currently resides in London, where she has performed in many dance projects and has her own dance school and acting group. As a teacher, she has travelled around the world supporting, coaching and motivating dancers to grow.

In 2021, Luanda has decided to expand her career into the digital world, creating her online Afro-Cuban Dance Academy to learn, consolidate and practice at your own pace, all the elements regarding Rumba and Yoruba dances (Orishas).
